Make the Origami Cat's Head

For this project you will need two sheets of origami paper. We will use the first sheet of paper to make the head of the cat. Fold it in half into a triangle to form a crease down the center. Now, fold it in half the other way to make another crease. Now, fold the top corner down so that it hits the center of the paper. Flip the paper over and take the bottom corner and fold it up just slightly like so. Flip the paper over again and fold this top half down. Now we will take these corners and fold them into the center of the paper.

Create the Cat Nose, Eyes, and Mouth

Take the corners and fold them up partway so that they are sticking up a little bit above the edge. Flip the paper over and we will take this corner here and fold it down just slightly to give our kitty a little nose. If you want, you can take a pen and give your kitty some eyes and a mouth. So now we have the head of the cat.

Make the Body of the Origami Cat

We will use the other piece of paper to make the body of the cat. Fold the paper into a triangle to get a crease down the center. Now we will open it up and fold it so that these edges meet up in the center of the paper. Fold the paper in half like so. Now we will take this narrow edge here and fold it down like this. Now we will fold it over on itself to form a crease. Now lift this flap and open it up like so with your fingers, and right along this crease that we just made we are going to open it up so that it goes down like this. Now from this point to this point we are going to fold up the triangle. And now take this edge and fold it over onto the other edge.

Finish Making the Origami Cat

Now we have the body of the cat, and all we have to do is slide right in here behind the head, and you have got a little kitty that can stand on its own. skunk.jpg
